The Limits of Age

Mike carter

The tic the toc of a very old clock hanging on the wall

Precarious it sits there but seldom does it fall

Words in your head saying yes and then no

Just getting comfortable then having to go

Cloud like a clipper sailing the sea

Small drops of rain soon to settle on me

Day after day that leads always to night

Saying you won't when you know that you might

Faint lines of age on a sun browned face

Dusting the shelf with its things all in place

cry when alone always fooled by a smile

Walking for yards when it feels like a mile

Lie in the bed close your eyes tight

Wishing for sleep and dreams through the night

Look in the mirror just what do you see

The limits of age locked up with a key

Yes the limits of age locked up with a key
