I’m getting old but I feel young
And it’s not over till it’s done
There are a few miles in me yet
You don’t believe me? place your bets
I've learned to hide tears when I cry
To give a wave let loose a sigh
I’ve seen this world and all she has
And for the best part I feel glad
So I turn my collar against the rain
And step into the road again
It doesn’t matter left or right
For each direction leads to night
Sure there’s a hole here in my shoe
But I’ll keep walking like you do
I carry memories in my mind
They give me comfort from time to time
And so the years have slipped on by
I must keep moving don’t know why
I guess, cos I still see your face
When I reach my quiet place
And so I drift from town to town
I never get to settle down
But if I stay still for too long
My heart reminds me what went wrong
So in the shadows I will dwell
I know you always did mean well
but heartaches live within our eyes
before they say their last goodbyes
I’m getting old but I feel young
And it’s not over till it’s done
There are a few miles in me yet
You don’t believe me? place your bets
