The Rise

Mockingbird

It pulls me; this feeling that my life is just over the next rise.

This pull is a push from behind that forces me to stagger forward into my real existence.

You see, everything until now has been a farce. What I see with my eyes is only what I see, not what is. I know my present is the fantasy and my future is the real reality.

What I see in my heart’s eye is fresh water and lily pads on the far side of a desert; Blue skies and blooming gardens on the other side of a storm.

Step by step, I move on to higher ground. With each step I am closer to the rise. I will keep my head down so that my eyes don’t lie to my heart.
