In one year

Lady K

In one year

my friendships

will become acquaintances

my home

will become visits

my country

will become a foreigner

my high school

will become a memory

and  my future

will become a present

In one year

I will be alone

in a strange country

 that I once called mine

In a state

that is so close

yet so far

In a place

that is unknown

I know its exteriors

they always tell me how it is

but they never tell me its content

its inner layer

its  under belly

It decorates its outside

for others to enter

but never gives out its true content

People that go there

say it's a great journey

filled with adventure

fun

and delight

but others say it's a slaughter house

filled with regret

pain

and worries

I guess I will never really know

until the time runs out

after the alarm sounds

in one year
