Love Yourself

Despina Nicole Cambosos

Love Yourself

Is indeed the undefined-

Yet, the defined recommendation of so many

Who say all too familiar phrases like  "Go on a trip, to the spa, or treat yourself to a new pair of shoes"

The initial response is always a socially responsive smile-

Followed by the true response feeling that these are great suggestions

But they seem to provide fleeting rewards

So, the true question becomes

How do we get to the point of loving yourself

In a world of reinforced ambiguous messages

Trapped in emotion filled with bouts of happiness

Stiffled by thoughts of incompleteness?

Only to search for positive reinforcement

Through love and lust manifested in fleeting connections

Unable to identify the root-cause of   the  rain

Or,  unwilling to confront the pain?

Often there's  a direct correlation between the pain -

The lack of strength and an un-identifiable solution

Push! Push through each day

Each day that turns into night-

That only cycles again

Creating a sort of homeostatic balance

Adopted as a norm, the cycle  is  maintained

While I wrestle with the statement

To never lose yourself

Yourself you'll surely lose

Until you recognize what creates your peace-

Piece of mind that allows you to love yourself

My True Love-

Poetry

    Thx @ bleeding diamonds.

Poetry is, first and foremost, a tool for introspection, a means by which we can express our hearts, minds, and souls. Through poetry, we acknowledge the beauty of the world around us. Through the poetic medium, we can share this beauty with others.

Therefore, the one true requirement for a good poem is that the author speaks from his or her heart, truthfully.

Poetry... Is as much about expressing beauty, as it is about making our ideas beautiful.

You have done a wonderful thing; you have taken the very spirit of human interaction, and relayed it through verse. It's witty, charming, wise, and ever so slightly melancholy.

Just the way I like it.

    Bravo, Despina Nicole Cambosos.

    Bravo.
