TIME THE SCULPTOR

Berthold Lippel

we started out very different people

individual peas in our marriage pod

you: shy, ambushed by life

me: pretending heroic mastery

you: dwelling inside your head

me: swimming in the world's waters

until slowly

imperceptibly

time sanded us down

rubbing against one another

our edges smoothed and fitted

we merged

now we are

a work in progress

hard to tell us apart

a human sculpture

made of flesh and blood

and love
