I thought I knew Him

I thought I Knew Him

I thought I knew him.

I saw the smiles, the calloused feet,

The gentle eyes that were warm and sure.

I felt the charisma, crystal clear,

Flow over the urgent press of people.

I watched, as with upstretched arms,

He embraced the sky.

I blinked at his announcing luminescence;

Fell in sudden fear, my spirit

Floundering at his feet.

I heard and tried to understand.

I thought I knew him, but he knew me.

Under a moonlit tree in prayer

His light left echoes of lustre

On its laudatory leaves.

I knew love as never before,

And love knew me.
