Split Worlds

Eeva

In one world I'm the outcast,

The one that no one knows,

The one without a friend,

The one who sits alone.

Yet in the second world I'm out-going,

fun-loving and un-afraid,

Who does dares when someone asks,

Who loves to live a life full of joy.

Yet somehow I am both,

Both out-going and extremely shy,

But which one am I really,

Which one is a fake?

Both feel exactly like me,

Both have that same warmth,

With my family and my mind as a friend,

Which I love both very dearly.

So maybe I'm in split worlds,

Neither one clashing with the other,

The worlds as far apart as ever,

Yet I can go to either.

So I tell myself I'm in split worlds,

Hoping for the day,

I can actually finally see,

And blow one world away.

There is a duality to human nature, which emerges in the face of challenging circumstances.

If you've ever heard of glass half-full, glass half-empty, while these are intrinsically different, it serves as a good metaphor..

Many people experience two or three different mindsets, when exposed to multiple environments.

It's a trait of adaptability, and enables us to react with versatility to a variety of situations.

Both are equally real, and while you do have a choice, there's still a third option: not choosing.

Nature strives for balance, and eventually is will sort itself out.

However, my personal recommendations would be to go with whichever choice bears the most merit to you, personally.

The obvious best-case scenario would be a long, healthy, happy life.

However, it is also worth noting that, whatever it takes to achieve happiness, this will probably be the longer of two roads, and that nothing worth doing is ever all that easy.

I have never related to a poem so much! This was the essence of me in middle school and most of high school. I'm happy to say that for me, the worlds have begun to mesh beautifully, and I am happier than ever. I know this will happen for you in time.

    You are an excellent writer!
