Moments In Time: Betrayed Blonde Beauty

maddhatter

Her blue-laced iris began swelling with overwhelming currents,

Gently falling---

The tears kissed her cheeks like raindrops

Looking to and fro the road

My eyes meet hers,

Hopeful pupils seeking only pain, when it should be pleasure

The window remains cracked, and together we race down the highway

Angry words spewing from her lips like a raging fire

I try to remain involved, but am easily distracted

By the golden strands of hair dancing delicately with the wind across her forehead

And the rapid rows of cars jumping lane to lane before me

Or the silhouette of the sun setting slowly in the rear view mirror

She covers her swollen, somber eyes

As if her hands can shield them like protective armor

Repelling lies and toxicity

She wipes the heartache from her cheeks,

Tugs and tucks back the loose hairs behind her ears,

And paints on a face of contentment.

“I don’t care,” she cries

But from the image of her reddening, weeping eyes

I thought, “but you do, often times too much”

Together we refocus our gaze on the open road.

I can’t help but think, “She deserves so much better.”

Thank you! I'm in the process of working on a collection of pieces, capturing "moments in time" that portray the beauty in hardships
