Tree On A Hill

John Lee

Tree I trusted you..

Seeing you on this hill looking so tall, full of leaves..
So beautiful, promising much fruit..

I'm here now, I see you..
So small without fruit, you're a liar..
At distance standing boastful and proud, up close you cower and wither..

You're no longer a tree, you've become man without the figure..
Choked by the weeds that surround you, give me a while to groom and I'll make you new..

No different than me, so let's join roots in our weakness, and together we'll bloom for the world to see..
Become brothers of meekness, and on this hill we'll be free.

John,I like your symbolism, but I want you to look up again your opening line and this bit at your end ("this hill we'll be free").
A tree is always FREE,no matter what...What does meekness bring? It brings happiness, spiritual maturity and growth. The roots of a Tree become stronger and the feet of a Man stand stable on the ground. I am sure you could find the right word to fix that bit...😀😯 That's the reason you are my friend!

I see.. but it's not really about a tree 😉

Sure.. The message there is it's not as it should be, but together it could be. I'm sure my writing skills could improve, I'm kinda new to poetry.
