The balloon .

camille

The balloon.

My loneliness it builds until I am tight like a balloon filled with helium,
It's gaudy brightness in contrast to the dismal musings within.
Floating carefree to the blue sky above, untroubled , bobbing gaily.
Up and up until it is but a tiny dot of colour, away on its adventure to a far off land.

I am still here, earthbound , trapped in this body , enslaved.
Bound by the shackles of monotony and expectation.
Yearning to drift away to a place of freedom and tranquility,
To fly fly away like a fledgling bird on its first solo mission.

To soar high above this misery that consumes me,
Eating away at me like the grub eats the apple,
Bright colours-green tinged rosy red ,
Now mottled brown and grey, discarded on the ground below.

Reminds me of the impermanence of life,
We too are like the apple,
Devoured slowly through our lifetime.
Bright life blood rich red, turning to eternal grey.
