counting crows

willyweed

the earth is quiet

as silent as the tomb

crows gaggle on a wire

against a harvest moon

it seems a thin place

where I am standing

as if; time

were standing still

I count the crows decending

bound to have there fill

I know the dawn

will chase the darkness

Will the scarecrow

shoo the crows

their is sweetness

in this dreaming

and perhaps

the scarecrow knows

in you're soul

you find contentment

when your busy

counting crows

Hi ww...I have never counted crows that's for sure, they scare me...I love birds and have quite few feeding stations in my garden..
but have a fear of crows for some reason....maybe the scarecrow knows why......
( the earth is 'quiet ? ) Great read and good imagery and I love the last two couplets makes for a great ending.....
    Bravo my friend...Smiles ...Dee

Being a pedantic soul, the wrong you're and their annoyed me.

Now that's been said, I enjoy the imagery and sentiment in this piece. I'd love it to be a little longer. That's always a good thing.

I'm one of the despised, defeated British mate so it's a happy independence day to you.
