Empty desert cast in monochrome and gray
In white sand, white sun, black day
To nowhere within anywhere despair
There's heartache in the sunlit air
Set sail across the sand with heavy heart
From nowhere anywhere do we depart
To look for black in a black world
To only of all hope despair
Barren is the land; had once held hope
Barren too the sky
Barren but for distant pool
Without whose waters all would surely die
All worlds surely be a lie
Yes the sun may dry the sand
Or all the sky be black
But forbid us all in life forsake
Lest color all emotion wake
And prove that life is not a thing to mourn

- Comment from author about the poem: Sometimes we feel as if our life is a desert, cast only in tones of gray and black. Remember always that we cannot forsake ourselves, lest we be proven craven by the long sought return of color to our lives, which is inevitable. "What with artistry we can surmise" "Even while in desert heat despise" "Gives color to oasis in the desert of the heart"

yes in this life we have to stay the course even through the most violent storms. good piece you pen. ww
You got the theme down to a word. Thanks for understanding.
And thanks for the comment- feedback is a poet's greatest treasure, lets him then compose at leisure.
I love the last few lines! Thanks for a happier ending, I liked the wording too. 🙂
