Nightmare

Izzi Lynn

It's a nightmare
Screams crawling through the air
Screams deafening me without care
Too bad they say I'm mad as a hare

Black lights glowing faintly
Makes my face look saintly
Can't hear anything besides my screams echoing quaintly

It's a nightmare
Screams crawling through the air
Deafening me without care
Too bad they say I'm mad as a hare

Woke up in a cold sweat tonight
Wish I could turn on a nightlight
But I'm an adult now, shouldn't be afraid of the night
Can't help that the monsters are a fright

My monsters are real
I reach out to touch and feel
Flesh and bone, skin that peels
I'm hurt and I can't heal
The monster's won't make a deal

It's a nightmare
Screams crawling through the air
Deafening me without care
Too bad they say I'm mad as a hare

Words and actions hurt more than blows
I can't feel my toes
I can't stay frozen in this ridiculous pose
I'm drifting off, starting to doze

It's a nightmare
Screams crawling through the air
Deafening me without care
They say I'm mad as a hare

Just 'cause I asked for all weapons to be stopped at the door
Doesn't mean they'll give them up, it's a war
I just wanted to take flight and soar
But I'm stuck on the floor

It's a nightmare
Screams crawling through the air
Deafening me without a care
And they say I'm mad as a hare
I'm not mad I'm sane in this nightmare
