A farmer found an eagle egg- lying in his field
He put it in his chicken coop- to see what it might yield
In time it hatched and grew up- this eagle knew no better
He thought he was a chicken- a bird of a feather
One day out in the barnyard- he saw an eagle flying high
He asked the rooster, what is that - Flying in the sky
The rooster said; an eagle son a mighty bird of prey
They soar up in the heavens- for freedom is their way
The rooster said “forget it boy”- We chickens just don’t fly
We peck our food out of the dirt- that’s how we all get by
The chicken eagle felt a pang and said that is what- “I want to be”
He said good-bye to rooster and left to go and see
He flew up to the heavens with the eagles soaring free!
‘So never let anyone tell you who it is, you ought to be!’
