Silent Destiny

Izzi Lynn

They said we were Fate
Said we were meant
Never believed it
Loved him but as a friend

As the years ticked by
Him standing faithfully by my side
I fell in love with another boy
I probably broke his heart a million times, but he didn't leave me alone

We were supposed to be Fate
I never really believed it, did I?
Loved him and didn't care why

I fell down I broke
And I ran to him, sobbing on his shoulders
He was my rebound he was my paramedic
And I never gave him credit

She called us Fate
I laughed it off quickly
I loved him and told everyone he was my best friend

Now I'm leaving him
Flying far away and moving to another state
And I've realized
I fell in love with him slowly
The way a flower blooms
He's my sunlight, my water, my ground
And now I'm a single bloomed rose
Am I red or white or yellow?

We were Fate
It was our silent destiny
And our spoken one
I denied it until fate was shattered
A glass mirror punched in anger
But we were Fate

  • Comment from author about the poem: Fate is a play on words, a ship name for me (my nickname is Frosty) and my best guy friend who also happens to have a crush on me (Nate), hence the ship name Fate. The \"she called us Fate\" is the girl who came up with the name, also a close friend.
