Writing Exercise #5

The 2 A.M Writer

Destroying conscience and empathy

Black lung pump my coal core

Skin the child and replace the elder

Build me and whip me

Hook me like a fish and drag me up

Bury me in mud and filth

Do what you would do

I want your cut and bruise

I want your destruction and misfortune

You're the candle that burns the carpet

What hurts you makes me build up

I want your split tongue and fortified mind

I want your rejection, your filth

Give me your worst, my best

Fill me of what you call Toxin

It's what I call Morphine
