All that I will ever be
-All that I can ever see-
Is just your distant memory
And I can never more be free
I saw across the desert fare
-the desert in the heart-
Your silhouette and golden hair
-across the desert I depart-
I wonder where to go or where
To start
-when did I fall apart-
All the lies that love can weave
Were never mine at all to leave
Now my heart is like a broken sieve
And the sand is all that's left of our love

- Comment from author about the poem: First of all 'M' is not someone any of you know (I think) Across that desert I can only stare While assuming life was never fare - for us -" Sometimes we're reduced to gibbering to ourselves late at night about memories and what-ifs. Sometimes we even talk back. Fortunately, some of the best (ok, not the best, but it still counts) poetry comes out of this. So, if you feel a little crazy/sad/"my heart is a desert" , than do us all a favor and write it down.
