In Song

Kurt Philip Behm

With prose,

I saw only with two eyes

and wrote with either hand

With poetry,

my eyes and hands were abandoned

leaving only my heart

While in the distance played a lyric,

freeing what my written words

could never unchain

And in that instant

when I first heard its melody

my heart was carried away,

—in song

I've read your poem several times. Maybe digging and digging for the hidden message. But the message is in the interpretation of the reader. Nicely written!

The hierarchy (IMO) of verbal expression— lower to higher...
    a) Prose
    b) Poetry or Verse
    c) Song

I have always believed that music is our highest form of artistic expression.

    Thanks as always for reading!

    Kurt
