Shadow

The Poet

What is our shadow?

Is it our darkness, the opposite of our glow?

Is it all that’s left of us when we pass on?

A distant memory that is long gone.

Maybe it’s who we truly are, inside.

Maybe it’s our dark side that becomes untied.

As our shadow disappears, we find it in ourselves.

After we excluded it, we must make amends.

For all the wrong we did.

While we were tenanted.

We try to keep our glow within us.

But sometimes when it gets in, it can leave cuts.

Physical and emotional scars are made.

Our mind and body was played.

We keep our shadow till our death do us part.

Ironically, after death, they can’t reach our heart.

They are left to wander where we were.

Where we left off before.

They are what’s left of who we are.

They are our memory.
