Summer Night

Reivax Camlost

The dawn, deferring anguished men to cold impartial day

In long, but ill forgotten hours after early morning rays

The clouds now tinged with red and crinkled gold relay

A parting gift from evening’s dress, a painting in the shade

 -a moonlight serenade-

And then in early day did rapture show her eyes of blue

Wings of birds and whisper trees make nothing a thing to do

The grass, an endless silken path to summer days too few

The silence as a wolf, alone at night with no-one but the moon

 -the daylight fades-

An’ evening shows her feathered gown, of royal blue and gold

Alights upon the sky, as oil from the brush in colors bold

We weary folk will walk the roads of night, our tales untold

Every day a mystery, a marble-glass, so wondrous to behold

Starlight alone gives a path in a moonless sky

And every night is whispering, come evening’s morning sigh
