The dance

daniel dawes

Butterflies dance,
Above the cool still lake,
Mirroring harmony as they move as one,
Autumn flowers catch the last rays of sunlight,
As they sit in space,
Accepting their fate,
The cooling breeze stirs the colours,
As my senses come alive and roam effortlessly,
A duck quacks and lands with a splash,
Silent ripples move out to stir the grass with ease,
Birds soar as they glide through life,
A hanging oak tree dips to see its own reflection in the stillness,
A gust of wind blows the golden leaves as they twist and spin,
Until their reflection meets itself,
Blackbirds search and speak,
As they move together over the damp ground,
The sun gleams and splashes its light from above and below,
As the completeness stirs my soul,
and the silence fills my heart.
