Cold Darkness

Izzi Lynn

Shiver in the growing cold
Didn't you see this disaster unfold?
Feel the blossoming darkness while you shiver
Can't you hear the steel underneath the quiver?

Twisted tree winding around this path
Roman gladiator chasing wrath
Glimpses of feathers falling down
The graced swan finally starting to drown
I think I found a ghost town

Shiver in the growing cold
Clenched shut eyes missed the disaster unfold
Feel the blossoming darkness crawl over your skin
A spidery ghosting of the freezing wind

Can't scratch away the uncomfortable sensation
Can't dodge the impending damnation
The end is following you, it's coming soon
Can you hear the darkness bloom?

Shiver in the growing cold
Blacked out eyes missed the disaster unfold
Feel the raven petals clamber over your exposed body
A cloak of darkness is rotted

The flowers bloom over frozen earth
The flowers bloom over frozen earth
The flowers bloom over frozen earth

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is actually inspired by a book I read recently. In it, a girl who became a viral sensation suddenly disappears. Many people assume it's her best friend because the two were singers together, until recently when the best friend got a throat infection and her voice was damaged in it, and so the other girl goes solo and they sort of break apart. It's very dark and well woven, switching POV from the best friend, to a transcription of videos made by the girl who disappears, the boyfriend of the girl, and another boy whose life was basically ruined by the two girls. Anyway it was great material to inspire this.
