A meadow in the woods of summer sings adagio
There, amidst the lilies and the ferns
Along the falling rays of sun on stone, the grass
-and the lilies of the field-
Would spin a tale from the lips of the sky
Adante said ‘o would the flowers sing a song’
There, along the lilies and the lake
Along the whisper of the wind, the breeze
-through the lilies of the field-
Would tell the story of the music’s sigh
And the lilies of the field did linger there
Allegro to the call of empty air
And the lilies and the orchids, fare
A song of summer in the boughs
A meadow, in a wood of red and gold
There, the lilies and the falling leaves
The dimming rays of the sun would sing a melody
-and the lilies of the field-
Would spin a tale of coming winter-song
Canon would sing ‘o where have all the flowers gone’
There, beneath the lilies and the sky
To whispering, winds of winter there appease
- For the lilies of the field -
Had sought of summer one last time
And the lilies of the field did linger then
Allegretto to the call of winter, when
Along the lilies and the orchids spreads a frost
Lament for summer’s meadow lost
