Can't You Hear

whatisthis

Can’t you hear?

Can’t you hear?

The breath of wind

Flying through leaves

The rasp of cat

Tongue over fur

The water

Smooth ripples

Listen.

Can't you hear?

Fluorescent lights

Clicking on

Books

Pages crinkling

Skin on fabric

Fingers along pillow

Listen.

Can’t you hear?

Camera clicking

Moment captured

Fan whirring

Cool air spreading

Laughter

The kids across the street

Listen.

Can’t you hear?

Now that you’re listening

Can’t you hear

All the people that care

Listen.

Can’t you hear?

The rustle of your shirt as we squeeze you

The joy that we wear when we see you

The happiness you cause

Listen.

Can’t you hear

A reason to stay?

Listen.
