Where Do I Fit?

SonnyD

So many choices,
So much to choose,
So many voices,
So much to loose.

We dream of lives so happy with bliss,
We hope for a chance and try not to miss,
We give it our best we try with our might,
We never give up we continue to fight,
We search for our piece and can see it so near,
We pick up the pace and make our options so clear,
We fall to the ground, but we steadily rise,
We're broken to pieces, but to no demise,
Nothing can stop us,
Not one of us will stray,
No one will move us
Or stand in our way.

We've found our place, or so it may seem,
We've done what we must to capture our dream,
The journey we've taken has gotten us here,
But what we have found is not even near,
What we saw in the beginning when dreaming of bliss,
What now we have found seems but amiss,
No glory or triumph that's not what we've seen,
Only hardship and pain, to which we are keen,

What must we do, to recapture our leer?
Should we begin from the start or start from the rear?
Where goes our life if not in this familiar direction,
What happens now that we have no connection.

The choices we make are bound by our will,
Yet as time may pass we all lose the thrill,
No one will see any way that you feel,
Emotions are relevant and time is so real,
Choose wisely my friend for you may never comprehend,
What these words truly mean until at your end.

  • Comment from author about the poem: To myself, this poem is a reflection of the life I see some close family members have gotten into. It depicts the life journey and that our choices may define who we are at a time, but will forever change the way we see things. For some it's a good change, but for most it's a realization that we can never predict that the dreams we live out will be our passion.

All we can do is make decisions and learn from our mistakes. But I hear you, some times life is a bitch. Then we die. Thanks for this thought provoking piece.
