A Lost Soul Seeking Life

Anthony Lawrence

A Lost Soul Seeking Life

Sitting behind these white prison walls,

thinking about life and where it went wrong.

All you can do is think about the past,

and figure out a way to have the last laugh.

I’m gaining weight and I’m throwing it around,

every single day my feet touch the ground.

God has blessed me in more than one way

and in due time you learn you got to pay.

Joe tried to reach me when no one else could

only to find out that he really understood.

Now I sit here in Plain State Jail

messing up my life and heading straight to hell.

You people think it’s funny and so did I

till I finally realized I was living one big lie.

I’ve learned from my mistakes and Its time to move on

Keeping my head up and praying to stay strong.

Keep your mind focused on what you want to do

Then you’ll finally see that it worked for you too.

Thank you god for all that you’ve done

You didn’t give up and I’m sure it wasn’t fun.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I was going through a hard time in my life and so I started writing poems and this is my very first poem I have ever wrote. It and god plays a huge roll in how my life has gone since 2004.
