BLACK HAZE

Stephanie Showers

Copyright 2010 Stephanie R Schubert

Disgusted

As you kill

The sea

Creatures dying

In a black swirling haze

Confused about how you can

Explain it away

Take a position of defense

Failure to admit

The destruction

Every morning on the news

You talk about the new methods

You intend to use

Damage will be minimal

So you claim

But I can hear the cries

Of desperation

As our environment lay dying

I bet you as tired of the platitudes from industry and government as I am. I grew up without plastic and made a few cents when I recycled news papers and returned soda bottles to the store. Thanks.
