Lost Within

Jeff

In this troubled heart I've found

no peace to call my own

My tortured mind won't let me give

the love I want to show

I'm doing all I know to do

to let go of my pain

With every effort that I make

it never seems to change

I'm trapped within these darkened thoughts

that's locked inside a tomb

With no way out I face the fear

that madness will insue

What must I do to conquer all

the demons haunting me

I struggle with the grasp I had

on my own sanity

With thoughts like mine it's really hard

to function everyday

God, please just free my mind again

before I go insane

This would be great lyrics for a song.

Thank you Tony... . I certainly appreciate it. What kind of music would you put to this?

        • Tony36

Welcome, as for music I think Rock n Roll or maybe a rap. It really could work with any type

A lyrical soulful song poem ! The plea to God sums it up nicely. I like the mixture of freeverse n rhyme in it, I tend to do that sometimes. The format is very poetic too. Thumbs up.

Pls do check out my latest poem too. I'm a new poet here but have been writing poetry since years and readers enjoyed it elsewhere until I found this site and wish to make new poem pals.

I was thinking of Country. There is a song "please release me, let me go". You could almost use your poem to that song.

            Chills down my spine!
keep with that inner song my friend
It carries further than you think
Thank you for the passion in this
I hope you found some peace.
