The Secrets Held Within The Dark

brittjane4

The emptiness grew within her

Caused withering of the light

It had begun to devour her

It once shone with all its might

Flailing in the embrace of darkness

Where the fire once blazed

The piercing grip made her helpless

Not even a sliver of light gazed

Lost inside her own creation

Nothing...no audio...just vacant

No words to describe her devastation

It was her secret held within the dark

Intriguing. Speaks of some self inflicted life changing event followed by regret. Such may be the case with a woman who chooses abortion followed by post-partum depression. I throughly enjoyed this carefully crafted poem.
