Lately all I can think about are differences.

See differences create constrictions,

Yet can also break boundaries.

In my mind there is no greater contradiction to itself than differences.

Within each iteration of its definition, new balances emerge,

Every one evolving from the last.

It is only through differences that anything is truly discernible.

Without darkness, light would have no context.

Without pain, triumph would never be so sweet.

Without the cold, heat would not kiss the same.

Differences define who we are.

They set us apart,

Make us unique,

Give each one of us meaning,

And a sense of purpose.

In the same stroke they often drive us apart.

These differences create rifts,

That sometimes cannot be overcome.

In the end they can leave us feeling alone…

But these same things can create unbreakable bonds.

Shared differences lead to shared experiences,

To overlapping lives,

To the kindling of friendships,

To connections on another level.

So here's to the differences of the world

Not always will they bring happines,

But I promise they carry balance.

Good will always follows evil.

The sun will always chase the moon.

Humility will always be one step behind success.

Let me leave you with a challenge:

The great differences come not from physical forces,

But instead from constructs within.

The difference between hoping,

And doing.

Never stop hoping,

But never stop at just hoping.

Because it is only through doing can we conquer.

Actions speak louder than words.

Doing accomplishes more than hoping,

It makes the difference between those who are seen,

And those who are remembered.

Do not simply live life.

Make choices,

Create opportunities,

So that one day you will not only have made a difference,

But that you will have made the difference.

Do not simply live life.
