Rescue me

All at once I was filled with doubt

Couldn't hear what you were talking about

Shutting down and shutting you out

No emotions to be shared

Pretending as if I never cared

Then there you were

because you wanted to be

You showed up to rescue me

Knowing I was sinking fast

Into the habits of my past

Denying any feelings could exist

You being more then I could ever resist

Thanks for helping to work it out

For not walking away from what

we needed to talk about

All the things still unsaid

All the doubt creeping into my head

The way I watch your eyes dart away

The things you might have forgotten to say

All the things I could never know

Trying not to worry as I watch you go

But then you just pushed right on through

All the damage the words could do

And we talked about everything,

Even though it was hard

For you to get past my guard

You and I talked about it all

Using all the right words

to break down my wall

Once again I have fallen for you

And all the things that you do

It makes me feel safer knowing I can share

Knowing you will always let me know you care

That you can tell me how you feel

And I don't have to wonder if it's real

Already you have rescued me again and again

Making it safe for me to give in

And not to fight against

what my heart already knows

Letting everything fall away

so only our love shows

Rescuing me the way you do

You and I working it through

Back and forth until there is no space

Between our hearts and our embrace

Rescue me again my dear

Save me please from my own fear.

You're the man who has my heart

Rescuing me from the start
