Her essence lies in lies.
The girl she was is not who she is,
Every cell is new, every idea; different,
Every memory an imagined dream,
And that leaves her without herself.
Turning her back on philosophy,
She sucks it up and accepts
That all her tiny brain will
Ever be able to comprehend
Is that she is God’s creation,
And her essence lies in her soul.
Her essences lies in lies.

- Comment from author about the poem: This is a poem about my own failure to understand my own essence, and my denial that I have given up and now believe that I have a soul and that I was created by God, which is not my true belief. I am a philosopher at heart so these questions I hold will never be answered by questionable explanations, so I suppose I will just, for now, have to accept my reluctant beliefs and change them later.
