The Lonely Road

Liam Lawless

Walking with no-one may sometimes be lonely,

Whereas walking with love ones is ever so homely,

I cried and lied said everything’s fine,

I rejected your love and followed the  roads  lonely  sign.

Now I’m alone, and will be forever,

In every choice and future endeavour.

The road becomes hell on my burning hot feet,

In winter the road freezes with cold lonely sleet.

I am alone and it’s all my fault,

For locking my emotions in an impenetrable vault.

Yet still I look up and see your face,

You kiss my forehead and tie my lace.

You say “never be on your own-

Never follow the lonely road

And if you feel lost,

For help you can send

I will come because just like all roads,

The lonely one has an end”
