Daddy

Christina8

You didn't have the capacity

to be the father I needed you to

You didn't have the eyes to see

how my heart bled for you.

Does blood run thicker than water?

Why did you up and run away?

Do you know how you hurt your daughter?

It's probably best you didn't stay.

The liquor was more of a priority

as it always has been and still is,

than you taking time out for me.

I guess the best we'll ever have is this.

That hurts. I have two sons and always wished for a daughter. I can't imagine the pain. Hugs.

Thanks Augustus. There have been so many people I've met in my life where I've thought "why couldn't he have been my dad?" But theres always a reason for these things.

P.S. I grew up saying "Daddy".

Wow. That is very moving. That kind of pain always runs the deepest and seems to know of no end. I hope you and your daughter are happy and can move on from that.
              Thank you for sharing.
