Silence

Christina K

"SILENCE,

silence,

silence,"

he shouted to the waves.

They crashed

and tore

his aching heart

away from love that day.

"The noise,"

he cried,

"has denied

my mind and soul alike."

But when he yelled

the waves dispelled

his voice

with a mighty spike.

For the man

was not a sailor,

he mistook

every step.

He suffered and cried,

unqualified,

and in the end,

his needs went unmet.

So there he died

his heart, denied

by the love

he thought would stay.

His cry for silence

to the sea's asylum

was unheard

by the waves.
