The Alzheimer's way

I'm sorry she said

I don't write anymore

I am nothing like I was before

I don't know how to reminisce

I am sorry she said

I don't know you anymore

All that once was

Has been lost

Just living today

The Alzheimer's way

Nothing to remember

No appointments to keep

Just wake up

And see what the day brings

People who say they know me

Like I am just supposed to take their word

About who I am

Or whoever

they think

I might be

Now be a dear

whoever you are

And hand me my pills

Well written poem. I understand all too well in the nursing profession. Great job!

I love this poem - I am a district nurse and I get called out to dementia residential homes all the time! So sad to see! Very real poem x
