You Told Me Lies

Liam Lawless

You told me lies

Lies about the world

So when I grew up I was surprised

Surprised at all the pain

All the suffering

I was ashamed

At human greed

Adultery

Use of drugs and weed

You said the world was a nice place

But I’m now ashamed at the human race

For ignoring migrants

And I’m lucky for having a nice birthplace

Yet still so many suffer

Lost their farther

Lost their mother

I sleep at night in a nice bed

Yet so many sleep in dirt

At very best they sleep in broken sheds
