Christmas Love

Marie Braden

Up the down stair case,

Moon beams chased,

Oh the thoughts could not be erased,

Why grand children's eyes sparkled all around the place,

Shaping branches upon a fake tree,

Reaching for another sparkly,

Quite unplanned hugs were passed around!

Quite like toys in a box from the floor to the top non stop,

"Momma can I have this one?", from a time long since forgot,

The key to the memory box turned,

Spilling over was tiny nuggets of gold,

Stories of yesterday gone by did unfold,

"Momma do you remember when.." played upon mind spun,

The hours slipped into two and then into four before we were through,

Can't wrap their words into a poem like other poets do,

Oh but I am trying I am,

A song slipped into mind across the spirit span and a pencil got placed in hand,

Now capture the love Grandma I know ya can,

A-C outlet plugged and the tree lit all up,

Making memories to out shine those tears in an old bitter clap,

Why that's love swirling all around the heart,

To be reclaimed when its cold and dark,

And all one can do is sit and warm around the heart,

Shooting stars across the span why love its held in God's hand,

All played back in those sparkling eyes of my Grandchildren,

Christmas love fills tighter than a glove as it should.

Christmas love,

Christmas love.
