Explanation for my American friends...
Prearson park is similar to central park
only very tiny in comparison
(Philip Larkin was a famous poet that
Lived in Pearson park, George and
Mildred are a pair of iguana's, the shed
Is where they live)
Pearson park....
This park is filled on this bone chilled day,
mums with prams, plenty of kids at play.
Those whistling trees, with faded brown leaves,
chestnuts now dropping, squirrels a hopping.
Larkin's lounge is just a stones throw away,
watching all life on this golden autumn day.
The last cutting of emerald green grass,
scattered around now summer has past.
Dog walkers with those long lead chokers,
pink suited joggers and too many smokers.
Pigeons, ducks and a fare few old geese,
patrol this green pond as it's theirs to police.
A children's playground, with swings and slides,
where screams and laughter can never really hide.
Ice cream can be bought from that little brick shop,
get cans of coke or coffee with cream on the top.
Manicured gardens near that big old white shed,
where George and Mildred are sat there in bed.
Pearson's park is a wonderful place for all
especially at the beautiful season of fall.....
