With Quaters on the Rail

John Snowdon

With Quarters on the Rail

Kaiya blossomed in the garden today
Slowly drifting like the tide,
And forced the world to fetch its breath,
Then politely step aside.
She moves like sunlight in the pasture
Though I’m sure she’s unaware,
Of the boundless beauty she radiates
I can’t help but stop and stare.
What majesties shall never cease
Nor steal from her through change,
Or cast upon her silhouette,
For her spirit cannot be tamed.
She steals from me this desperate hour,
The light around her tends to bend,
As this calming presence passes over
In ways which few might lend.
The wind should blow as freely
And celebrate each gale,
With wonders in the atmosphere
And quarters on the rail.
I watched Kaiya in the garden today
Then I wished upon a star,
That time should preserve such loveliness
To remind us what they are.
