What is it like to be King David

AlanLikesToWrite

What is it like to be King David?

To have a best friend who's dad wants to kill you,

To marry a woman who hated that you expressed yourself beyond the boundaries of royalty.

To kill a Philistine giant with only a stone, while everyone else was so prone to watch a shepherd boy finish their war.

What is it like to be King David?

To question your own destiny,

To fret and complain to God about your anxiety.

To write a whole journal of intimate prayer filled with layers of heart wrenching realities.

What is it like to sing songs in the midst of blood and warfare,

Calling upon your God when your life doesn't always seem fair,

To step out on a limb night and day, when all you've done is prayed that He won't be a second late.

What is it like to stop,

To have peace through something you cannot see.

But rather through belief, you have strength that will not cease.

To have unbelievable victory, that even to this day the fall of Goliath is legendary.

To have left such a legacy that after thousands of years, generation after generation will still know your name.

What is it like David, to be you?
