Same old excuses
Same old lies
Reasons may very
Between what’s and whys
As the time for sorry and regrets
Ultimately passes us by
The results are always the same
With someone being hurt
Or the other saying good-bye
Some hang on with an apology
As the other accepts it in vane
Which ultimately causes more hurt
Jealousy and pain
The struggle to find true love
To be happy and content
To find another’s soul
For whose it was meant
Is a lifelong undertaking
Full of frustration and dead ends
Some take what they can get
And some only want to be just friends
Making that needed connection
Is always hit and miss
Except for the fortunate few
Who find eternal bliss
So when you’re obsessing over your last weekend date
Listen to your heart closely
And be sure that they are
Your true soul mate
