The serpent

DezD

.     Rejection is something you can feel in your chest.

It's like a slimy, slithering, serpent; waiting to pounce

It waits in the shadows, until you are confident and ready to take on the world.

Whether your world is getting into your top college, making a team, or even that cute guy at work you can't stop thinking about.

this serpent does not care about the amount of despair it will put you through. Right after you get your hopes up, that's when it strikes.

Like a thousand rays of lighting during a dark storm, it will hit you like a sharp and jagged thorn.

Everything you have hoped for, everything you dreamed, gone. In an instant. Like the wind.

All because you got your hopes up. So, be wise. Do not let this serpent be your demise.

A beautiful way to express a moment that breaks you. It makes me remember that feeling of anguish in the pit of my stomach. How a moment can cause you physical pain. And i feel that good art makes you feel rather than observe. So thank you for this experience.

It makes me think of the anxiety when things are going great, dread comes along, and you are wondering what's going to spoil things. Great way of putting the point.
