Don't Leave.

MaxWritesPoems

Oh won’t you stay?

At least of a day?

Or is it too much to ask?

I don’t know how long we’ll both last,

but you can’t leave.

Please don’t leave me

If you care,

not about stupid things like what you wear

but rather about me,

don’t you see?

If you ever did

you won’t get rid

of your life.

Put down the knife.

You won’t go.

I’ve hit a new low.

You can’t leave me to fight by myself.

This war,

you swore

you wouldn’t leave.

Don’t leave me to grieve.

Life has left wounds on us both

but that oath

we both took.

Take one more look

in the mirror

and see things a little clearer.

My words are truthful,

you are beautiful.

So please stay

At least one more day.

So maybe I can show you what I see

and together we can be

and we can both say

we lived to see the day

where we didn’t have to create

a smile that’s fake.

A beautiful piece of poetry. Well done. I mean it's sad but it's also beautiful.
