Hysteria

Augustus

If a child is abducted three thousand miles away

why should mine be instructed no longer to play?

If your political candidate does not win

is mankind's fate so doomed to end?

Why are my kids at constant peril

if I purchase not that certain apparel?

Without your concoction my house will fall down?

And, without your direction my diet is unsound?

A word  used hundreds  of years

now heard brings some to tears?

No longer may I use this speak

for fear to the police my name is leaked?

Why is Hysteria the constant state?

Some like me simply can't relate.

Why get your knickers all knotted and  knurled?

Really–it's  not the end of the world–

I bet you learned that FEAR sells,

whipped to a frenzy the mob swells.

It's also contagious as the mob grows–

so advantageous to your sinister goals.

Please don't insinuate something's wrong with me

if I don't go along with, i.e. concede.

FEAR is false evidence appearing real. I couldn't agree more Augustus! People can be sheep, trying to keep up with the "Joneses." And, I feel this country is going to get a lot better. Great point of view in your poem!

      • Augustus

I had not heard that before-false evidence..... I hope you are right. Thanks

Love it, It would be nice to get out of the state we are in. I wrote a poem called "The Machine" that looks at what is happening to our society today

                Individuality is important.

                Gj.

                • Augustus

Had not thought about it that way. At least not with this poem. I have always admired however the "rugged individualist". Thanks for reading and commenting.

                  Believe also..
                  In England we
                  Would say it's
                  Bang on....
                  Really well done sir....
                  Ps.. I bloody hate

i really love the vibe in this, insisting we dont always get what we want, & its not the end of the world

Yes, even if you really believe you were right-- in the end it is simply a difference in opinion, and we agree to disagree and we both go calmly with respect for one another. Thanks for reading and commenting.
