Solitude In Her Presence

EmmaR1

Solitude in her presence

I’m so sorry that you seem to think you know me

I’m not as simple as I seem

But you see

You’re just not the one that gets to know those things

I keep them hidden for a reason

And a lock around my walls

Sometimes solitude is where we find ourselves happiest

So when I break

And must go away for awhile

Just know that I'll come back better

But I don’t promise it will be anytime soon

It’s nothing you did

No, sweetie

I did this to myself

By loving too much

And wanting what I gave in return for once

I broke myself

And I just need time

Miss me while I'm gone

But know that I'm ok

Sometimes the world too much

And I can’t hold on forever

Just because I'm quiet

Doesn't always mean I'm upset

Maybe I just want to listen

Maybe it’s time for the fighter to be fought for

The holder to be held

And the lover to be loved

I’m not crazy

Just tired and broken

By the weight of the world

I love you too much to leave

So I'll be back soon

Maybe tomorrow

Maybe the next day

Or a year later

But I promise I won’t be gone long

And good girls don’t break promises

Goodnight darling

I’ll see you in the stars

And hear you in the wind

You are my light and path

And I won’t forget you
