Heart of Mine
A heart will beat
A heart won’t lie
Many belong;
This heart of mine
It pumps the blood
It keeps me alive
In these veins;
This heart of mine
Raised to thrive
Rig worker sweat, in hot day’s sun
By labor hard;
This heart of mine
Heart can break
Heart can crack
But never, pain of heart, is taken back
To love another is to wish for pain
For I love my brothers
For I love my sisters
For I love my aunt, as she is my mother
I love my family, that is it
To love any others, I can’t at all
Death can kill
Death does take
Pieces gone;
This heart of mine
Drinks of water
Tears for thine
A smile hear
A smile there
Father where are you;
This heart of mine
To cut me now, find the core
Physical wounds I do not fear
Your words are not the voices that
Whisper hurtful things into my ear
Of my own death I am not scared
For many face a bear
I travel darkest path
I have made brighter future
Into the hole,
I have been tossed
This soul is scarred;
This heart of mine
My father loved, but unremembered
My uncle loved, even in sickness,
Helped raise me
My cousin loved, like a father,
Also taken from;
This heart of mine
I loved them all,
Three fathers like
A heart will beat
A heart won’t lie
It pumps the blood

Raised to thrive
Heart can break
Heart can crack
Heart of pain
Never taken back
Death can kill
Death can take
To cut me down
To cut the core
Drinks of water
Drops of blood
So ask me now,
What do I love?
