The Carnival is Over

Sallelesmg@27

I hear the Carnival Adventure outside,

echoes blend to alight the blazing congregation.

They conquer the night with their dreams.

The listless stirrings of timeless rolling drums,

installs a longing within,

To search.

With every droplet,

the heart beats

memories from long ago.

Alive faces glowing in the light.

Dances of love,

Too deep to be erased.

Yet, when the light grows dimmer,

yesterday's dreams fall from faces.

I am afraid of this finish, when the carnival is over,

when the truth lies,

There is a return.

And yet, I know this night could have been won,

and shared.
