Why?

Jmanning5

Why?
Why?do good people die young?
With their mouths closed and their songs unsung
Why?do the people we call friends leave
Only leaving us to grieve
Why?
Why? Are there so many unanswered questions?
I just need directions in this life
Thats full of strife
Im only 16 years old
but in this big world how could it be so cold
I never understood how it could be so much violence
Feeling uneasy about Gods quietness
Why? Can we not looking past labels just to see who we really are
It's so bizarre
That we only see the pigment of skin
Oh where can I begin about this society that we live in
Strange fruit swingin in the southern breeze
The only thing I see is black blood on leaves
Black blood that was blood of royalty
Only to be twisted in history for its notoriety
It was obscene to think of ourselves as a king or queen
But it was the old negro spirituals that lifted our spirits up
Only to have them laid down
But it was the song go down Moses go down
That let my people go and show showed their bravery
Only to be reborn again into mental slavery
I never understood how my people could go back to this day and age
But ask anybody else we on a different page
It's the same story but in different writing
